Major Advantages of Multi-Lingual Online Courses

by Anand Tiwary February 01, 2021

Language learning has one of the most predominant trends in the online education domain. Starting from English to French, from Spanish to Arabic, online schools have thrived based on grammar and language teaching.

Is it easier to learn language online? A recent survey involving over 650 United States based students have revealed that students learning foreign language lack their speaking and writing skills due to the lack of practice.

According to e-learning experts language learning is a personal process. It demands concentration and practice. In a classroom environment it is difficult to have both. Students are shy to show-off their personal speaking ability in public, especially if they are learning a foreign language. That is why online language courses are gaining popularity.

Hugh Abbot, a California based Russian and Slavic language e-teacher says, “Online language courses do not rush you. The students can repeat the same lecture 4 to 5 times, in a week, thereby gaining proficiency”.

The online language courses are also private. That is a major advantage. You can master a language at your own pace. One many occasions, in a class of 7 to 8 students, only 2-3 actually learn the language properly. That is due to the lack of personalization in the training process. However, as far as online education is concerned everything is personalized.

So, let us explore the major advantages of multi-lingual online courses

A Bigger Reach

Bi-lingual or multi-lingual courses automatically help you reach a greater audience base. You get a chance to register more online learners in your program. For instance, if you are offering your courses to a predominantly English speaking audience from a population where there are also Spanish speaking students then making your courses bi-lingual or tri-lingual will help you to reach out to more people at a time.

Creates a Sense of Inclusion

Mono-lingual online courses create a sense of exclusivity for the people who only speak that tongue. However, if the online courses are multi-lingual then students from different sectors can join your course. This gives you a natural advantage over the competitors.

Improves Learner Engagement

Different languages help the students to connect to the heart of the course. When a learner gets to listen to video lectures and reads notes in his/her mother tongue they feel more involved in the course activities. Moreover, if the quizzes and activities are also in their preferred language then the chances of them getting higher score also increases. In this way, they will be less likely to move away from the course or miss out on some of the key concepts of the curriculum. Language becomes an important binding element which glues the students together.

The world is becoming a small place and before you know it you might have to shift to another country, altogether. Now if they do not speak English you will be in a bit pickle. That is happening to many people around the world. Be it French, Spanish, or Mandarin, online language learning courses are booming on a daily basis.

Many English teachers also relocate to China or Europe. So, whilst they teach English to the students the teachers themselves need to master the local tongue. That is why the foreign language courses are thriving.
